The Bridal Emergency Kit
One of the biggest mistakes Brides can make is not being fully prepared on their wedding day.
I know I personally had nightmares leading up to my big day, where my makeup wasn’t right, or we were running behind schedule, or I had forgotten my wedding dress. You read that right! In my defense, the mind plays wild tricks on you, and I was planning my wedding during a Global pandemic where Ontario, Canada was having closures and lockdowns for retail stores. I had a legit fear I would have to order my dress online. Amazon’s finest!
That all being said, I am happy to say everything worked out beautifully and our big day was incredible.
One key element I am so glad I had in place for the day of was a Bridal Survival Kit. While not a new concept, I made my own tweaks to it as a self proclaimed “Major Planner” to be ready for just about any scenario. It is better to be safe than sorry, and some of these things were absolute non-negotiables. Here are some items I made sure I had, a few that I wish I had or some others you may require based on your own personal needs
Medical:
Pain Reliever – Headaches are not an option!
Allergy Meds – Preventing sneezing during photos is more important than you may think.
Stomach Meds – Tums or other brands in case you get more than just butterflies in your tummy.
Band Aids – Mostly for your feet in those wedding shoes. Preventative buffers are highly recommended.
Panty Liners – Anything can happen.
Tampons – I think this one is obvious but also considerate for your bridal party.
Q-Tips – These can be for makeup touchups or cleaning your ears. Options People!
Vitamins – Just because there will be so much going on, does not mean your health routine should suffer.
Tissues – Speaks for itself!
Sanitizer – We live in this era.
Beauty & Makeup:
Dental Floss/ Toothpicks – Preventing the “there’s something in my teeth” fear.
Deodorant – Duh! You’ll be sweating regardless of the time of year.
Bobby Pins – As many as your hair stylist may shove into your head, you will need more.
Pocket Mirror – Checking for lipstick on the teeth, hair out of place, bleeding mascara, etc.
Nail File – Hang nails or snags are no fun!
Tweezers – For those random hairs that make an unwelcomed appearance.
Foundation – Assisting in any undesirable shine.
Concealer – Reapplying will happen, especially after tears of joy and before photos.
Lipstick – This will be reapplied numerous times throughout the day, so keep it handy.
Lip Balm – I personally liked to apply this to prep my lips for lipstick.
Perfume – Best to apply right before walking down the aisle.
Lotion – Hands, legs, arms, feet, elbows; use where needed.
Hair Spray – For when gravity or the wind decides to have it’s way with your hair.
Eyelashes – I don’t often wear fake lashes, so I needed to confirm I had these in my bag.
Apparel:
Safety Pins – Rips and tears can happy to your dress or your bridesmaids dresses, be prepared.
Small Scissors – Pulls, tags, opening packages, these have a universal use.
Mini Sewing Kit – For emergency situations, but anything can happen.
Hem/Body Tape – I personally required body tape for the upper part of my dress and we will leave it at that.
Spot Remover – Avoids panic.
Clear Tape – This would come in handy if a shoe strap breaks.
Static/Cling Spray – Allows all materials to fall and flow as they were meant to.
Slippers – While you’re getting ready, it’s nice to be comfortable.
Lint Roller – Especially if you live with pets or personally shed in stressful situations.
Food & Drink:
Bottled Water – It is so important to remain hydrated throughout the entire day.
Mints – For that first kiss after saying “I do”.
Snacks – Nothing too heavy, something to tide you over.
Caffeine – Brides are typically not well rested the day of their wedding, you’ll thank me later.
Straws – Don’t mess up your lipstick if you can prevent it.
Alcohol – A cheers with a mimosa is always encouraged!
Have fun with this, customize it to your liking and simply enjoy your day. These little add-ins are only to assist and not hinder the flow of your big day.
