A Love Letter to My First Born
Dear Calum,
My first born, the boy who made me a Mommy. You changed my life in ways that I can never thank you enough for and you didn’t have to do anything but exist to make it happen. You took your time coming into this world, but once you did, you changed everything. You have such a bright future ahead of you and I am honoured to have the privilege to witness all the greatness you will create in this lifetime.
You have tested my patience in so many ways, but made me a better person from it. You have ultimately taught me the power of patience. Your innocence is what humbles me. Your stubbornness is what tests me. Yet, you also show me strength and perseverance, in the art of taking your time with things. While you are always busy and full of energy, you have always shown that when you do take your time, when you concentrate and focus on a task at hand, you will succeed. Even from such a young age, you are determined and can teach all of us that we don’t need to rush through life.
Thank you for making me a mother, you have been my dream come true. All I ever wanted was to become a mother, and you have set the bar incredibly high on what that honour holds. While we are never fully prepared for parenthood, as much as we try to be, you have shown me that perfection isn’t the expectation, unconditional love is what truly matters.
You will always be what showed me what real true love is. From the first moment you held my finger, to the first smile you ever gave me, to holding you in my arms as you slept so peacefully, I knew we were meant to be together. I struggle to find the words to express how much I love you, there is simply no measurable scale to define it. You are everything I could have ever asked for and I will cherish you for as long as I live.
Love, Mommy xoxox
