Personal Changes That Change Everything
We only get one life, and we need to cherish that and live it in the best way we can. We should embrace who we are and be grateful for what we have, as big or small as it may be. Nothing has taught me to be myself and accepting of who I am more than becoming a mother. It was the greatest thing to ever happen to me and opened my eyes to who I want to be and represented as my children’s mother.
How we act, what we say, everything we do is observed and retained by our children. If we want them to grow up to become upstanding citizens and to life a healthy lifestyle, we need to lead by example. It is not always easy when scrolling our phones and watching tv and eating snacks is much more appealing when we are exhausted from our little ankle biters, but presenting discipline and personal strength is far more effective in who our kids become.
Making personal changes and taking personal actions to being the person we want our children to look up to doesn’t have to come with massive sacrifices. These can be mindful adjustments to our daily lives. Flipping the switch in how we view certain matters. Respecting ourselves and our own bodies with healthy choices. Here are some personal changes that can change everything.
- Spend more time focusing on what you love.
- Decide to make your self-care a priority.
- Pause before responding.
- Show up for yourself.
- Stop chasing what doesn’t feel aligned.
- Speak to yourself like someone you love.
- Stop going back to places that have hurt in the past.
- Acknowledge that you matter too.
- Allow yourself some grace.
- Start being on your own side.
- Lean into self acceptance.
Self-love is stronger than we give it credit and can speak volumes to our audience. Expressing emotion and feelings are not in any way wrong or discouraged, as we are also human. But by representing personal strength and discipline over allowing the world to beat us down, creates independence and leadership within our children. Embracing who we are and showing we are proud of what we have accomplished, big or small, creates that super power within our kids. Spreading love and joy is an art I hope we can allow to live on within the generation we are raising today.
