Old Fashioned Spring Cleaning Ideas

Homemaking has been around for centuries. While we have come a long way with our tools and supplies to complete our long list of tasks, there are a number of things that have been around for just as long that still make sense to do.

With all of the hype around the latest cleaning product craze or a new and improved formula, venturing back to the basics can not only save you money, but are tried and true to this day. With mass production and more and more chemicals being approved in our daily products, going with classics can be more reliable and safer to use for yours and your families health.

Here are some tasks to consider tackling during a spring clean that will take you back in time and fill you with nostalgia.

  • Polish wooden furniture
  • Open windows to air out the house
  • Dust shelves with fresh lavender, eucalyptus or other herbs
  • Line-dry linens in the sun
  • Simmer herbs and citrus on the stove
  • Shake out rugs outside
  • Replace curtains with sheers
  • Bring in branches or blooms for vases and planters

These are not necessarily every day or even every week tasks. That is why including them in with a thorough spring cleaning can revive the new season and freshen up our stale homes with vibrant scents and finishes. It doesn’t have to be elaborate or expensive to be affective.
