Plan for a Successful Day
We’ve all been there, and some of us live this daily. Where from the moment you wake up to the moment you are headed to bed, the day is filled to the brim. Non-stop go-go-go, dodging delays and distractions. Every waking moment counts, and if you dare to sit down you may not have the energy to get back up again. This can happen, and it may be out of our control, but when it is avoidable, I think we would all enjoy our days much more.
We can’t plan every moment of everyday and expect it to all go exactly as we’d hoped. But we can try to plan our days more accordingly to avoid major issues and crash-outs. Some of us thrive on chaos, but at the same time, it doesn’t have to feel like a frantic mess every waking minute. We can guide ourselves through the madness versus living like a ticking time bomb.
Here are some steps for planning for a more successful day:
- Get an early start – Start small with 10-20 minutes, but working your way up to waking an hour earlier each day can gain you a whole new start to your days.
- Picture the desired results – Set your intentions for the day.
- Set your schedule and make your to-do lists – Batch similar tasks for ultimate efficiency.
- Prioritize healthy habits – Plan out your meals, snacks and exercise.
- Prioritize your top three – Selecting the non-negotiable tasks to be done that day.
- Get to work – Tackle the biggest task to get it out of the way first, or start small and gain momentum.
- Plan for tomorrow – Set your future self up for success.
- Practice gratitude – Reflect and find something to be grateful for.
- Unplug – Carve out time for yourself and for those you love.
- Commit to quality sleep – Recharge for at least 6-8 hours.
The steps to a successful day don’t have to be massive and overwhelming. They can be simplified and give more direction than pressure to achieve. We are all busy in our own ways, but by having a plan, we can set ourselves up for greatness versus worry and stress. Productivity is a wonderful feeling and we all deserve to feel accomplished at the end of each day, no matter how big or small. Treat yourself to that feeling!
