Boring Habits That Help You Thrive

Creating healthy habits is a key skill to develop in life. It helps with longevity, confidence and overall health. But sometimes these healthy habits are quite boring. Boring can also be important, and understanding that helps us continue with them.

Change and trying new things can help with the excitement of developing habits, but that isn’t always a realistic approach. Sometimes the boring ones are the best ones for us. The ones we can easily adapt to and incorporate into our daily lives. Consistency is what is most important. That workout class you love may be full sometimes, or we may not always get the perfect nights sleep, but we have to keep going to maintain our habits and reach our goals. Our children are observing our every move so what they see, they will also do. We want to make a good example for them and show them what they say and do matters.

Here are some boring habits that can help you thrive in life.

Daily walks – Can be blah, but shockingly effective.

Waking early – Getting a head start for your day can make all the difference.

Single-tasking – Focusing on one thing at a time to put in your best efforts.

Screen free meals – Create conversation and enjoying each others company.

Finding ways to pause – Take a breath, observing your surroundings; not always rushing through the day.

In-person conversations – Sharing the same space makes a chat so much more impactful.

A consistent sleep schedule – Whenever possible, for the benefit of your overall health.

Regular gratitude check-ins – Positivity goes a long way.

Cleaning your personal spaces – Respect your personal space and the items within it.

Cooking healthy meals at home – Know exactly what you are putting into your body based on how it is made and the ingredients you are choosing to use.

We are responsible for ourselves and our actions. Life isn’t always going to be glamourous and exciting, but by maintaining habits, even the boring ones, we can enjoy it that much more. Our health is our own responsibility and teaching our children by example shows them the importance of taking care of yourself. Respecting and maintaining our bodies and minds is what will keep us going for years to come, and passing that knowledge down to our children, along with discipline and self regulation, can make this next generation better than ever before.
