Great Habits to Exit Your “Lazy Girl” Era
Have you ever felt as if you’re not accomplishing enough? You’re catching yourself sitting on the couch more often, looking at screens too much, not tackling your to-do lists or tending to chores or hobbies? I know I certainly have! Sometimes we slow things down, lose focus or even lack motivation to get things done. And that is okay. But in order to remain productive within our daily lives, we have to do our best to stay out of that funk and keep up with our lives, especially as parents.
Let’s call this our “Lazy Girl Era” and plan to escape it! Here are some ideas that can be small, but mighty in putting us back on task.
Wake up early and start your day with purpose.
Make your bed as soon as you get up.
Drink a glass of water first thing in the morning.
Practice gratitude by journaling or reflecting on what you are thankful for.
Set daily intentions or goals to stay focused.
Create a to-do list and prioritize tasks.
Take breaks throughout the day to refresh your mind and body. Stretch, take a walk, or even a few deep breathes.
Exercise regularly to boost energy levels and mood.
Practice mindfulness or meditation to reduce stress and increase focus.
Limit screen time and set boundaries for social media usage.
Declutter your space to create a peaceful environment.
Develop a bedtime routine to promote a restful sleep.
Read for pleasure or personal development every day.
Practice time-blocking to allocate dedicated time for tasks.
Set aside time for hobbies or activities you enjoy.
Practice active listening in conversations.
Seek opportunities for learning and personal growth.
Practice self-care regularly; this can be taking a bath, going for a walk, or spending time with loved ones.
Reflect on your day before bed and celebrate your achievements, no matter how small.
These things don’t have to be overbearing or wildly creative, but more habit forming and stackable to feel more accomplished at the end of the day. By filling in daily blanks and redirecting our focus, we can accomplish more than we realize. When putting off a task and being “lazy” about things, this can often lead us to false assumptions that it will take forever to finish, but shockingly take very little time at all. Do yourself the favour of coming out of the funk and creating daily successes, no matter how big or small.
