Cleaning Schedule: Wednesdays

Wednesday are the middle of the business or school week and allow us to refresh the kitchen! The flyers come out in our area on Wednesday’s, announcing what will be on sale starting Thursday. This gives us the opportunity to review what we already have in our fridge, freezers and pantry, clean out anything that needs to be tossed and prepare a fresh slate for meal planning and fresh foods.

Wiping down the cupboard faces and appliances creates a refreshed look to the kitchen space. Wipe down the inside of the fridge, get rid of anything expired, rotted or the items no one has been enjoying. By doing this each week, you are able to keep tabs on what you already own to prevent over purchasing, you won’t miss an ingredient for a meal plan or simply see what you are running low on. Groceries are not cheap these days, so over buying when you could be using your budget in a smarter way, why the heck not!

Give the counters and backsplash a thorough cleaning. Splashes and messes happen and sometimes in a rush to clean things, we don’t do the most perfect job. By focusing on this at least once a week, you can tackle anything that could potentially stain later or build up and cause mold. Move everything on the counters to get every inch. While you’re at it, give the sinks a deep clean and really get them to shine.

When these tasks are done regularly, it’s amazing how much faster they become. You’ll start to do it as second nature. Have you ever noticed a splash stain on something later and wondered how long that has been there? This avoids ever worrying about someone else seeing your mess that once existed.
