Kitchen Deep Clean

Sometimes we need to zero in on a certain area of our home and give it a really good deep cleaning. Today, we will focus on the kitchen. This is typically the heart of the home. Where family meals are made, baked goods are shared and it is the center of nourishment and hydration. All this raises the importance of maintaining the cleanliness of such a space. Daily upkeep is necessary, but an overall deep clean is something to focus on, likely once a month or more, but at the very least, quarterly.

Here are a list of tasks to follow during a kitchen deep clean.

Throw out any and all expired foods.

Clean the fridge thoroughly. Wipe down the shelves and drawers.

Reorganize the fridge sections in a way that works for you.

Use baking soda as a fridge deodorizer.

Tidy and organize your spices and seasonings.

Tidy and organize your canned and boxed goods.

Vacuum out and wipe down the shelving in the pantry.

Come up with an under the sink storage system.

Create a coffee and tea station.

Create a recipe folder or binder for all loose printed recipes.

Deep clean the oven. Most ovens have a self cleaning option, but wipe this down after completion.

Deep clean the air fryer and other small appliances. Shake out the toaster, descale the coffee maker and wipe down the kettle.

Replace old kitchen towels with fresh ones.

Reorganize your countertop space. Declutter as much as you can from the counters.

Reorganize the utensil drawer. Vacuum out any crumbs or debris.

Clean or replace any water filters or ice machine filters.

Wipe down light fixtures and replace any bulbs where needed.

Deep clean the window sills and frames.

Wipe the tile and grout, scrub the backsplash.

Clean the breadbox and any storage containers. Restock where necessary.

Check your smoke detector and carbon monoxide detectors.

Reorganize your reusable grocery bags. Wash any if necessary or donate when you have accumulated too many.

Clean the cabinet doors. Get behind the doors as well, especially where the garbage bins are kept.

Defrost the freezer if needed.

Do a full regular kitchen clean, including the sink, wiping down counters and sweeping and mopping the floors.

There you have it, your kitchen deep cleaning master list. Regardless of time constraints or limited resources, this is all possible. Break the tasks down into different days. Spread out the cleaning so it becomes less daunting. As parents, we have limited time, and more often than not, limited energy. But once this is complete, no matter how long it takes, it always feels so good to be finished. Take the leap into a cleaner home starting with a cleaner kitchen.
